Eaton® Dual-Phase & Three-Phase Power Converter Installation Guide (MPN2811)
Overview
The Eaton® Dual-Phase & Three-Phase Power Converter (MPN2811) is designed to convert high-voltage AC input into a stable 12V DC output used to power electrical systems and control components in transport refrigeration and industrial applications.
The converter supports both two-phase and three-phase AC input configurations, allowing it to operate in a wider range of electrical environments while delivering reliable DC power output.
This bulletin provides installation guidance, electrical specifications, and connection details to ensure correct operation of the converter.
Key Electrical Specifications
The Eaton® converter supports both two-phase and three-phase power systems.
Input Voltage
Two-phase input
-
340–640V AC
-
Nominal voltage: 400V AC
Three-phase input
-
293–640V AC
-
Nominal voltage: 400V AC
Supporting both input configurations allows the converter to operate in a wider range of electrical systems.
Output Performance
The converter provides a stable 12V DC output to power connected electrical components.
| Configuration | Maximum Output Power |
|---|---|
| Three-phase input | 560W |
| Two-phase input | 280W |
Output current:
Up to 40A at 14V DC depending on system configuration.
This higher capacity allows the converter to support demanding electrical loads when operating in three-phase systems.
Physical Design and Mounting
The Eaton® converter is designed for installation in industrial and transport refrigeration environments.
Dimensions
-
Length: 242 mm
-
Width: 208 mm
-
Height: 133 mm
The unit includes four oblong mounting holes (10 × 20 mm) to allow secure installation.
For electrical safety, the converter also includes an M8 grounding stud that must be connected to system ground during installation.
Electrical Connections
Input Connector
The converter uses the following connector for AC power input:
Amphenol AT04-3P-SR01BLK
(or equivalent connector)
Output Connection
Converted power is delivered through M8 terminal connections that distribute the 12V DC output to the connected system.
Technicians should verify that all wiring connections are properly secured before powering the system.
Battery Temperature Monitoring
The converter includes an integrated battery temperature sensor.
This sensor monitors battery temperature during operation and helps protect the battery system from overheating, improving overall system reliability and battery lifespan.
Electrical Protection Requirement
For safe operation, the converter must be protected by external circuit protection.
Install either:
-
4A time-delay fuse, or
-
4A circuit breaker
This protection prevents electrical damage caused by overload or surge conditions.
Important Installation Note
When installing the converter in three-phase electrical systems, technicians must ensure that the neutral connection is correctly wired.
Incorrect neutral wiring may prevent the converter from operating correctly or cause system faults.
